My very non-scientific tests showed that the furnace’s response times to changes made via the internet or phone app were significantly faster than those made locally. Although the Ecobee3 Lite thermostat is excellent, its remote sensors are more expensive.
Design And Interface
The Ecobee thermostats work in the same way, but there are some differences. The Ecobee4 thermostat is slightly larger and includes an Alexa, speaker, and microphone. I found this appealing. The Ecobee3 light won’t work in conjunction with humidifiers, dehumidifiers, or ventilator systems.
The Ecobee3 Lite Is A Decent Smart Thermostat That Costs Less Than Most
Due to the demands of WiFi radio and circuitry, smart thermostats require constant power to function. Ecobee offers a solution for users without C wire. You can use the provided PEK (see the “What’s in the Box” above). Each thermostat’s thermostat wiring connects to a relay and a transformer. A thermostat sends a signal to its zone to raise the temperature. It also sends a signal for the zone to the water pump to pump water. These systems are complex and I don’t know everything. This is just my understanding. The tankless water heater heats the house by heating hot water through PEX tubing installed in walls and floors.
It is not important to me, as I like fine-grained control over my heating schedules. Plus, that feature isn’t as important for efficient, slow recovery hydronic systems such as mine. The Nest is more attractive and supports 5GHz Wi-Fi, which is not the case with Ecobee. They are motion sensors and send information to the thermostat about the temperature at their location.Check ecobee4 Black Friday Deals
I decided it would be more convenient to use the transformer to change one of the wires that goes to each thermostat into a C-wire. This is also useful if I need to use another smart thermostat. The PEK doesn’t work with two-wire systems, according to me.
The features of the Nest and Ecobee Thermostats have similar features. The Nest will learn your heating and cooling patterns over time. This is a key feature.
It can also be used with remote sensors that can be purchased separately. A two-pack of these can be bought for $57. This feature was my favorite and most useful of the Ecobee3. This sensor is not recommended for those who live in small apartments or studios. The web console and app match the display of the device, so the experience is virtually identical across all platforms. Because of the larger screen real estate, the website provides faster access to all functionality. However, the same controls are available everywhere.
The Ecobee3 Lite is very similar to the Ecobee3, with a rounded, all-black face. It also has a white back. However, the sides of the Lite model are tapered inwards so that the area between it and the base plate is smaller than its front.
Adding A C Wire
You can change your comfort setting, and any schedule that uses it will be updated to reflect your new settings. The layout of your home and its size will determine which device is best for you. The Ecobee3 may be more suitable for multi-floor homes, while the Ecobee3Lite is better suited for smaller homes. The job of heating or cooling is done so easily here, as with the predecessors. The Lite is smarter than its predecessors. It learns more about your schedule and becomes smarter. Ecobee3 Lite has almost the same features as its competitors but costs a lot less. This makes it worth your consideration.Check Ev Charger Black Friday Deals
Ecobee3 Lite Works With Alexa And Everything Else, Too
It’s OK if not everyone is on board with an all-listening service for their home. You might be already using Google Home, but don’t want Alexa. In either case, you can still control the thermostat via Google Assistant. The Ecobee 3 Lite does not have a geofencing feature like Honeywell’s Lyric 55. It will not automatically switch between Away and Home mode if it is within a certain distance of your home. However, this can be avoided by connecting Ecobee to IFTTT and creating a geofencing formula.
